US government to impose new tariff on imported steel

Company Al Jazeera Steel has confirmed that the US government has officially signed declarations of a 25 percent tariff on imported steel, in accordance with Article 232 (b) of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.

The company disclosed that it is following the procedures closely and working with its legal advisors to take possible preventive measures after the new tariff was announced.

The tariff is applied to imported steel from all countries with the exception of Canada and Mexico, coming into effect as of the 23rd of March.

Al Jazeera Steel said that it did not expect this to have a significant impact on international business.
