Mohammed Awadh Al Rowas, Director General of Traffic at the Royal Oman Police (ROP), has met with driving instructors in the Governorate of Muscat to discuss a number of issues pertaining to the decision to allow driving tests to be performed using either manual or automatic vehicles.
During the meeting, Al Rowas explained that this came in response to requests made by male and female driving instructors and will come into effect from January 2019.
The decision is based on a study conducted by the Directorate General of Traffic, which looked at driving instructors across the country. The study suggested that most driving instructors would welcome the change.
