Atheer – Oman News Agency

Elixir United Investment Company signed an agreement today with Italian engineering consultancy services firm, Sering – Oman branch, to carry out the initial design of a new specialised hospital. The project, to be located in Muscat, will come at a cost of 100 million Omani Rials.

The 48,000 square metre project, expected to be completed in 2020, will boost the health services sector by providing the latest global technologies and highly skilled human resources in pediatrics, orthopedics and obstetrics.

The project aims to contribute to the Ministry of Health’s new approach, which encourages the participation of the private sector in health care at a more comprehensive and broader level. The implementation of the hospital will come in collaboration with Italy’s second largest private health facility, Gemelli Hospitals.

The agreement was signed by Sheikh Nasser Mohammed Al Hashar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Elixir United Investment Company and Sergio Demoyo, Chairman and CEO of Italian engineering consultancy services firm Sering – Oman branch.

Sheikh Al Hashar stressed the need for a comprehensive private health facility to respond to the demographic changes and challenges of health care in the Sultanate. He also said that the Sultanate would benefit from bringing in international expertise in the field of health services.
