Muscat – Atheer
Salam Air has announced the launch of its first route to Iran. As of the 28th of February, Oman’s first budget airline will operate two weekly flights to Shiraz, with ticket fares as low as eighty Omani Rials return.
“Despite its increasing popularity as a medical and tourist destination, Shiraz has remained overlooked for years, with no direct flights from Muscat,” said Captain Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of Salam Air.
“In response to public demand, we have made it a priority in our 2018 plans and are confident that our guests will enjoy our affordable prices and convenient timings.”
Since its launch, Salam Air has kept a close eye on the market, analysing demands and identifying emerging trends that have allowed it to remain competitive in the current economic climate. This approach will see the airline launch two other destinations within Iran, namely Tehran and Mashhad, in addition to other routes in Asia. These ambitious plans will be supported by the addition of three aircraft to the Salam Air fleet in 2018.
Captain Mohamed went on to say, “2017 was a milestone year for us as it marked our beginning in the aviation sector. Today our home-grown airline has connected over half a million passengers to more than eight destinations and we are looking forward to continuing building on our success. The support of our guests has played a pivotal role in our journey, from our side we will continue to provide alternative options to our customers by listening closely to their needs and provide a great value for money, as we spread our wings and fly to new destinations.”
Salam Air will be operating flights to Iran’s third largest city every Sunday and Wednesday, departing from Muscat at 12:50 and arriving at Shiraz International Airport at 13:50.
In addition to Shiraz, the Salam Air network today consists of nine destinations, including Muscat, Salalah, Sohar, Dubai, Doha, Jeddah, Karachi, Multan and Sialkot.
Salam Air was launched in 2016 to meet the Sultanate’s rapidly increasing demand for affordable travel options and to generate further opportunities for employment and business creation.
