Dr. Khalid Mansour Al Zadjali, Oman Fisheries Co CEO, has revealed that the company’s sales over 2016 and 2017 exceeded 23.5 million Omani Rials, as the company produced over 40,000 tonnes of fishery products.
These products were exported to around 55 different countries worldwide, with the company owning four factories across the Sultanate.
Al Zadjali explained that the company intends to launch new value-added marine products, which it will introduce over the coming period.
He affirmed that ensuring the quality of fish is one of the company’s priorities, having developed a specific section to monitor the quality of fish products. Nine Omani quality control specialists were recently appointed, undertaking an intensive training programme.
Commenting on the company’s Omanization Policy, Dr. Khalid Al-Zadjali said that providing employment opportunities to Omanis was a top priority, going on to add that its Omanization rate rose from 18 percent to 35 percent between 2016 and 2017.
