The Ministry of Transport and Communications has announced that the air cargo terminal at the new Muscat International Airport will become operational at 2:00 pm on Monday the 19th of March.
Goods will begin being collected from the new cargo terminal on this date only, while goods for delivery will still be delivered to the old cargo terminal until Thursday the 29th of March, after which all traffic will be moved to the new building.
The efforts of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Oman Aviation Services Company come in line with plans for the new airport to be operational on the 20th of March.
His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi, CEO of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation and General Supervisor of the Technical Committee for the follow-up of airport projects, said that construction work on the new air cargo building has been completed.
The area of the new cargo building is 32,000 square metres and the warehouse has an area of around 23,000 square metres and a capacity of up to 350,000 tonnes per year.
