The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, has been ranked second in the field of open data in the GCC and the Arab world. Furthermore, it was ranked seventh in the same index for Western Asia.
The report, released by the Open Data Inventory (ODIN), is the only assessment of this kind, covering data openness on national statistical agency websites.
According to the report, in 2017 the Sultanate was ranked 53rd out of 180 countries worldwide. In 2016 it was ranked 69th out of 179 countries.
The ODIN report helps to promote open data policies, improve data access and encourage dialogue between national statistical agencies and users of data.
