Environment Society of Oman announces annual event

Muscat – Atheer
The Environment Society of Oman (ESO) has announced its annual Earth Hour event, with this year’s theme being Connect2Earth. The theme focuses on raising awareness about global biodiversity and its importance to ecosystems.
The announcement came during a press conference held at the Crowne Plaza hotel this morning, with it being revealed that this year’s event is set to focus on the Arabian Sea Humpback Whales and through a new collaboration with Xcape Muscat.
“Over the last seven years we have noticed Earth Hour gaining traction in Oman, with more energy being saved each year as more people show their commitment to our planet. ESO works to achieve this by implementing several local conservation and awareness programmes and initiatives. Last year’s event attracted more than 400 people,” said Suaad Al Harthi, Programs Director at ESO.
“The success of Earth Hour 2017 inspired us to continue our efforts to raise awareness through exciting interactive programs that engage with the community and promote a culture of rationalisation and conservation. We are confident that participants will gain insight into the importance of biodiversity and environmental sustainability.”
