The Public Authority for Consumer Protection has recovered 61,644 Omani Rials for consumers in a number of cases.
The authority received a total of 240 complaints last year against a company specialising in the sale of mobile phones. The consumers claimed that the company was taking time in handing over the devices to customers following payment.
An investigation found that the total amount reveived by the company for the sale of the devices was more than 61,000 Omani Rials. It was therefore agreed that the company would return each customers the amount that it received from them.
This comes within framework of the authority’s efforts to settle such issues in an amicable manner.
