Muscat – Atheer

PDO has awarded contracts for the maintenance of all of its wells to Omani companies for the first time in its history.
This comes following the signing of several agreements with five local companies worth an estimated 800 million US Dollars. The agreements are valid for ten years.

Five local companies, namely Abraaj Energy Services, Mohammed Al Barwani Oil Services, Cactus Primer Drilling Services, Ba Omar Oilfield Services, Middle East Drilling and Integrated Services (Medusco), will provide well maintenance services in PDO’s concession area.

“These agreements represent an important milestone for the company, as they contributes to our commitment to the added value of the country,” said Abdul Amir bin Abdul Hussein Al Ajmi, PDO’s External Affairs and Value Creation Director.

“For the first time in the the company’s history, local companies will oversea the maintenance of all of its wells, which confirms our efforts to preserve the wealth of the oil and gas sector in the Sultanate.

“These long-term agreements serve as proof of our belief in the ability and skills of Omani companies to support the company’s Well Engineering Directorate, so that they can provide efficient wells services, in accordance with safety rules, on schedule and on budget.

“At the same time, these agreements provide a great opportunity to build the capacity and expertise of Omani employees as we move towards the automation of well-engineering operations.”

Under the terms of the agreements, the five companies will support local SMEs and community companies and will finance the training of Omanis working in the oil and gas sector, developing their skills and capabilities.
